Virtues of Reciting Surah Yaseen, The Heart of the Qur’an

Surah Yaseen is often referred to as the Heart of the Qur’an and for good reason. There are numerous hadith which speak of the benefits and virtues for reciting it. Surah Yaseen is the 36th of Surah of the Qu’ran and consists of 83 verses.

In this article we’ll cover some of it’s virtues & benefits, however, we must mention that some of the hadith mentioned are considered weak ‘daeef‘.

That said, just because a hadith is considered weak does not mean that the rewards you receive for reciting this blessed Surah are lessened. Every letter of the Qur`an is a cure and a blessing.

So, if you have a good routine of reciting Surah Yaseen as many do, we implore you to continue reciting it!

The virtues of reciting the heart of the Qur'an surah Yaseen

 Virtue One: Ease in the Morning & Evening 

Narrated by Ibn Abbas (R.A): The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said:

Whoever recites Yaseen in the morning, there will be ease for him till evening. And whoever recites Ya Seen at night than there will be ease for him till morning.Sunan Ad-Darami

 Virtue Two: Forgiveness 

The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said:

Whoever recited Surah Yaseen in the night seeking Allah’s pleasure, Allah would forgive him.Sunan Ad-Darami, Tabarani

 Virtue Three: Recite for the Deceased 

Ma’qil ibn Yasar (R.A) reports that: The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said:

Surah Yaseen is the heart of the Qur’an. No one reads it intending thereby Allah and the Next Abode except that Allah forgives them. Recite it for your deceased ones.Sunan Abu Dawud

 Virtue Four: Sins Forgiven 

Jundub ibn ‘Abdullah (R.A) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said:

Whoever recites Surah Yasin at night seeking the pleasure of Allah, His sins will be forgiven.Muwatta Imam Malik

 Virtue Five: Fulfilment of Needs 

The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said:

Whoever reads Surah Yaseen at the beginning of the day; his needs will be fulfilled.Mishkaat

 Virtue Six: Forgiveness 

The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said:

Whoever reads Surah Yaseen on the eve of Friday will be forgiven in the morning.Baihaqi

 Virtue Seven: Dying as a Shaheed 

The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said:

Whoever continues to read Surah Yaseen every night then dies, will die as a shaheed (martyr).Tabarani

 Virtue Eight: Reward for 10 Qur’ans 

The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said:

Whosoever reads the heart of the Quran – “Yaseen” in Ramadan will receive the sawaab of reading 10 Qurans.Tirmidhi

 Virtue Nine: Intercession 

Narrated by Aisha (R.A): The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said:

There is a surah in the Qur’an that intercedes for its reciter and forgive its listener. Know! It is Surah Yasin. It is called ‘Mu’amma’ in the Torah. It was inquired, what is Mu’amma? The Prophet (S.A.W) said, ‘It embraces the person with the goodness of this world and removes the dismay of the Hereafter.Sunan Abu Dawud

 Virtue Ten: Glad Tidings 

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (R.A): The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said:

Allah recited Ta-Ha and Yaseen one thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth. When the angels heard the Qur’an they said, ‘Glad tidings to the nation to whom this will be revealed, and glad tidings to the hearts that will bear this, and glad tidings to the tongues that will speak these words.Sunan Abu Dawud
